P’ Fon\/Nattaya Charoenpan (2nd Cohort): Chasing the Dream of Becoming a Teacher<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI want to study Chemistry so I can use what I learn to teach children\u2014helping them gain knowledge and apply it in the most meaningful way.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2753 Could you (teacher) share a quick review of Nattaya (P\u2019 Fon)?<\/strong>
\ud83d\ude01 \u201cP\u2019 Fon is very dedicated and persistent. During her Chemistry studies, she worked on a project with Ajarn Pailin. She was committed in the lab\u2014hard-working, and she performed every experiment very well. She patiently guided juniors with kindness. She is loved by her friends and all the younger students.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2753 Why did you choose to study Chemistry?<\/strong>
\ud83c\udf27\ufe0f \u201cFirst, I need to share some background. At first, I studied Education (Chemistry major) in an international program, but due to several factors that didn\u2019t work out, I decided to leave that program. \ud83e\udd79
After that, I thought that if I studied Chemistry directly, I would gain deeper knowledge\u2014knowledge that I could later use to teach children. Also, when I was in high school, Chemistry was the subject in which I scored the highest. \ud83d\ude01\ud83c\udf89 So I chose to major in Chemistry.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2753 But a Chemistry degree doesn\u2019t provide a teaching license. What did you do then?<\/strong>
\ud83c\udf27\ufe0f \u201cI wanted to build a strong foundation in Chemistry first. As for the teaching license, I had already researched that there are several pathways to obtain it\u2014such as pursuing further study.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2753 What was it like after you started studying Chemistry?<\/strong>
\ud83c\udf27\ufe0f \u201cStudying Chemistry at the Faculty of Science at Sriracha was incredibly fun! Every semester came with challenges and exciting moments. I gained a lot of Chemistry knowledge and many process skills.
The project period was especially enjoyable\u2014tiring, discouraging at times, and requiring a lot of patience\u2014every emotion you can think of. But I always had kind professors who supported us with knowledge, care, and guidance, helping every student become knowledgeable and a good person. Most importantly, I was truly happy there.
Kasetsart University creates a supportive learning community. I had friends who helped each other study. Personally, I believe choosing to study Chemistry at the Faculty of Science at Sriracha was absolutely the right decision.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2753 After graduating in Chemistry from KU Sriracha, what did you study next?<\/strong>
\ud83c\udf27\ufe0f \u201cAfter graduating, I pursued a master\u2019s degree in Science Teaching<\/strong> to obtain a teaching license<\/strong> and to be eligible for the teacher recruitment examination. During my master\u2019s studies, I used a lot of Chemistry knowledge from my undergraduate program\u2014especially during my teaching practicum. I shared knowledge, process skills, and experiences with students.
Even today, many of my former students have chosen to continue studying Chemistry because they were inspired by what I shared with them. They want to pursue careers based on the experiences they heard and learned.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2753 How did your journey to becoming a teacher begin?<\/strong>
\ud83c\udf27\ufe0f \u201cAs I mentioned, after finishing my Chemistry degree at KU Sriracha, I continued with a master\u2019s degree in Science Teaching and earned my teaching license. Currently, I work for the Laem Chabang Municipality<\/strong> as a teacher assistant<\/strong>, teaching Chemistry to Grades 10\u201312<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2753 Is teaching tiring? What\u2019s good about it?<\/strong>
\ud83c\udf27\ufe0f \u201cTeaching is a very demanding job. When I became a teacher, I truly understood how hard my own teachers worked\u2014always guiding us, teaching us, and giving us love. \ud83e\udd70
At the same time, being a teacher brings happiness too.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2753 Can you share a memorable moment from being a teacher?<\/strong>
\ud83c\udf27\ufe0f \u201cThere are many moments. One that I remember clearly is when a student told me, \u2018I understand Chemistry so much better after learning with you. I want you to teach Chemistry forever.\u2019 Those words made my heart feel so full. They gave me motivation to keep teaching and keep developing my students.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2753 Lastly, is there anything you would like to say to your professors?<\/strong>
\ud83d\udccc \u201cI would like to sincerely thank all Chemistry faculty members at KU Sriracha for educating and supporting me. Today, I am able to pass this knowledge on to my students so they can develop themselves\u2014and contribute to society and the country.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
